gasp from the past

It's strange how history repeat itself, deja vu in a way, or a habit that you were not aware of.
Me for instans. I always seem to make the same mistakes over and over, in music as well.
There is something with certain silly pieces of music that constantly seem to haunt me. Some of them are truely amazing, songs that you had forgotten and suddenly reunite with, and some are embarassing. I've tried to focus on a few that inspire me, songs that belong in the amazing category.

End of the Noughties!

Yes its time again to meet a new year but not only a new year this will also mark the end of the "Naughties".

So I will share a list which highlight SOME moments of this decade. This decade have  been a period of democratizing the music, with influential music bloggers, bedroom producers and we have seen the birth of grime, electro, dubstup and Ed Banger electro..

So enjoy!

More Work?

This is my playlist for the night. Working late sometimes sucks, then you need some good music. Thank god I am not a DJ.

Pre-after-party

A pre-party that became an after-party. And turned in to a bikram contest somewhere in the middle. This is the result of 8 people (and a bunch of additional late night visitors) competing to get their music played.

A discussion about how to deal with hooligans that are trying to beat you up just for the sake of it, and the fascination for a very very soft fabric is the mystery behind the name of the play list. So the connection with the music is arbitrary.

Main contributors: Dan J, Wanda A, Christine E, Tomas R, Gustaf V A, Mathias S, Kristian R, Kristoffer R

And don't shoot me - I'm just the messenger.

Night is a space for freedom!

I was going through old pictures from old parties, clubs and different releases we had through the years. I have chooses not to show any of those pictures, but to give you all a clue from those absolutly amazing times. Walking home in the morning, the sun is about to change the darkness of the night to a beautiful sunny morning. Your clothes are totally wet from sweat or from the coupple of drinks we were poring over eachother on the dancefloor or behind the video/dj decks. You suddenly feel the pain in your arm and notice a coupple of bite marks. And you are still singing the songs quitly for yourself.

And I also wanted to share this quote, from Andre, the party promotor/entreprenuer.
"Night is a space for freedom. Underground culture goes on at night. The night is not a moment in time; it's a space to create."

Here comes the list: Crazy crazy nights

LAST MAN ON EARTH

It's in the middle of the night, you're in a car driving through deserted city streets, you can't see anybody and you feel like the only person left on earth, you probably are, it makes you sad but it's one of those SATISFYING SADNESS feelings that gives your life purpose as the songs are lingering in the dark or maybe you just woke up jet-lagged in the middle of the night in a strange city, and you can't fall asleep so you're sitting in the window looking down on empty store windows or you're on a plane and it's dark except for the moonlight and the humming of the engines and everyone's asleep and you see empty lit up roads winding through the dark landscape and as you reach the last song you KNOW EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE ALRIGHT.

Note: if you suffer from anything close to death anxiety or existential fears you probably shouldn't listen to this playlist or watch this video.

vacation

this is music that really fills you up. no matter where you are, let it embrace you and go on a little vacation. Another good title would have been Music For Airports. A shame that a genius beat me to it.

As tears go by

A couple of my most played songs during the last two or three months. Getting punched in the face, trying to appreciate it and getting back up again. A little journey in some sense. From mellow to magnificent. Maybe a bit bombastic. Some old and some new, but mostly a bunch of modern classics. And of course, last but not least; Jeanne d'Arc.

RAJNAIS BILBAND

This list is my childhood.
Every time when we went on Holiday me, Tomas and our dad he put in his favourite songs in the stereo. We wanted to listen to hip-hop but often it ended up with these songs that our dad liked. The funny thing is that I really hated these songs when I was younger but for every year that passes by I get more and more fond of them because they are so strongly connected to a lot of great memories from that time.

I do not even think it is possible to like ”Vem får nu se alla tårar” / Wilmer X like I do. I am a bit embarrassed by that. I seriously thought for a while that I should exclude it from the list, but then the list would no longer represent when our family went skiing and listen to this song over and over again when we had problem going up for a hill with the car because the roads were so slipperly.

Next list will be mine and Tomas mixed tape that our dad hated..

This potpuri of tunes has to define in which state of mind I've been in the past week.
A very interesting week, filled with wonders and thoughts. Such as friends returning, problem solving, shirt knitting, paper folding and bun baking,
It was a good week.

I-DEAS

A new day, and a new spotify list! This list represents my last few weeks struggling with sorting out new  projects and ideas.  The pictures really represents the ideas and projects I have been working with, together with this list.
"books one picked up and put down over a period, say, of ten years, picking them up on the eleventh to discover the impossibility of putting them down. what's the arithmetic of this?"
John cage, in "numerals", exhibition catalog, 1978, yale university gallery.

The list:  I-DEAS

Enjoy!
